What you can expect at the church of Christ 1) Jesus Christ is at the center of everything we believe and practice. Many churches seek to glorify themselves; others have a tendency to elevate some person. We endeavor to put the focus where it belongs - on Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who is the head of the church. Acts 4:12; Ephesians 1:22-23; Colossians 1:18 2) Bible centered teaching. We believe the Bible is the inspired word of God and is sufficient for every spiritual purpose. Our teaching and preaching is based on these God-breathed words and is thoroughly applicable and appropriate in our modern world. 3) Praise centered worship. Our worship is simple and direct. Our goal is to praise our Father in heaven. We do not seek to entertain each other or offer some emotional display which ends with the passing of the emotion. We sing together, pray together, study together and partake of the memorial supper together. John 4:23-24; Ephesians 5:19 4) A local community of believers. We do not belong to any superstructure... We are a locally independent, self-governing(by God's design) group of believers within this community. We believe a careful examination of the New Testament will reveal that a local church is not responsible to answer to a central 'council', or any such thing. We are responsible directly to our Lord for our actions. Ephesians 1:1; Philippians 1:1; Colossians 1:2 5) An interest in your spiritual well-being...not your pocketbook. The responsibility to do the work of this church belongs to that of the members and it comes from a deep seated commitment to God. We take a collection - from our members - on the first day of the week. We use no other methods to raise money. We are deeply interested in your spirituality, not your money. 1 Corinthians 16:1-2; 2 Corinthians 8:1-6 6) Good people - becoming better. The members of this church are far from perfect. We all have shortcomings, weaknesses and faults. Additionally, we all recognize these truths. So we look to God and His word for direction, strength and guidance in our daily lives. He graciously provides and by our submission to His will, He makes us better. |
